To practice as a solicitor in Queensland involves four steps:

  1. Completion of an approved law degree(Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor )
  2. Completion of an approved practical legal training course or a supervised traineeship
  3. Application for admission to Roll of Lawyers
  4. Application for a practicing certificate

Juris Doctor is an alternative to the Bachelor of Laws for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline.  It is an approved degree for the purposes of admission as a legal practitioner in all Australian jurisdictions, in conjunction with further study (Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice) or a traineeship. So if you already have Bachelor degree and want to study Law, this is the course for you.
